What you really want to do is get a small hardware appliance that sips power. One way to do it is to buy an appliance from pfSense. They are a bit pricey though but you are also buying support which you may need as pfSense is a bit geeky. pfSense is basically FreeBSD Unix. FreeBSD is probably the most stable and secure operating system there is.
I worked with several pfsense hardware at work. I was about to purchase the SG-2440 for a friend's business when I came across this unit on Amazon. SG-2440 and this unit has comparable specs. However, the SG-2440 is priced at $499 while this unit is prices at $279. If you are familiar with working on Linux or pfsense, setup is a breeze.
